High Oil Pressure:

  • Incorrect oil type or viscosity.
  • Blocked oil pressure valve.
  • Blocked pump pressure side main oil galleries.
  • Bad sending unit or guage.
  • Excessive oil pressure relief valve spring tension.

Low Oil Pressure:

If oil gets low, turn off the engine immediately.

  • Low oil.
  • Incorrect oil type or viscosity.
  • Overheated engine.
  • Blocked oil pump pickup tube.
  • Air leak in oil pump or bad oil pump altogether.
  • Bad pressure sending unit.
  • Missing oil galley plug.
  • Excessive main bearing clearance.
